Introduction

Hello everyone, I am Lara Gillespie. I am currently in fourth year in Wesley College, Dublin, Ireland. I was very fortunate to have been selected to be on a Habitat for Humanity team in June 2017. Habitat for Humanity is a charity with an aim to "eliminate poverty housing in Ireland and around the world and to make decent housing a matter of conscience and action."

The team (made up of 20 students and 5 teachers) will be travelling to Ndola, Zambia, in Africa next June to work in partnership with a local family to build three houses in two weeks. Each of us must raise €3,000 to pay for the cost of travel and building materials for the houses.

To raise my funds I am going to cycle 2,000km over the next seven months on my mountain bike or road bike. My rides will be calculated on a Garmin cycle computer with a GPS.  I will post regularly to this blog where you can follow my progress and the kilometre countdown!

I will be hoping that friends, family and maybe even some companies will sponsor me to do this.
